Deepwater Pipeline Precommissioning – Brazil
| Application | Pipeline Precommissioning |
| Product | Mid Line Weak Link EQD |
| Deployment | Coiled Tubing |
| Maximum Working Pressure | 1035 Bar |
| Media | Nitrogen and Treated Sea Water |
Since 2023, Flint Subsea have supported a deepwater precommissioning campaign offshore Brazil, integrating a 15ksi EQD directly onto the base of coiled tubing for pipeline flooding and pig launcher operations.
Application
A single-valved 15ksi Mid-Line Weak Link was mounted at the coiled tubing base with a hose bundle linking to a subsea pig launcher for use in Pipeline Precomissioning.
Location and Water Depth
Offshore Brazil, operating successfully at water depths up to 2200m.
Operating Pressure
The system represented Flint Subsea’s first 15,000 PSI EQD deployment.
Why did the client approach Flint Subsea
Client required ultra-deepwater capability, nitrogen-compatible sub-ambient pressure handling, and protection against pressure egress and seawater ingress.
The Challenge
High side loads, sub-ambient nitrogen pressures, dual-valve isolation requirements, and planned disconnection at 2200m.
Objectives
- Deliver deepwater-capable 15ksi EQD
- Maintain isolation
- Allow vessel-based redress
- Withstand high side loads
Our Approach
Developed single-valve 15ksi EQD using materials new to Flint Subsea, integrated venting and sealing valves, and validated performance through rigorous workshop testing.
The Solution
Delivered full CT-mounted EQD system with custom valves and vessel-serviceable design deployed since 2023.
Results and Impact
Successful 2200m operation, Flint Subsea’s first-ever 15ksi EQD, rapid offshore redress, and proven deepwater reliability.
Why choose Flint Subsea
Demonstrated capability in high-pressure, deepwater EQDs and complex CT deployment environments.
